The Rav4 EV is only available to the general public in California for now. Hopefully Toyota won't make the same mistake GM did with the EV1 and make the Rav4 EV available elsewhere around the country as soon as possible.

You can also get a lot of technical information from key wording Rav4 EV on cars.com.

The Amazing Toyota Rav 4 EV

Toyota Releases RAV4-EV for Consumer Market in California At the Electric Vehicle Association of the Americas, ETIC 2001 Conference, in Sacramento, Toyota Motor Co. announced it would begin selling its RAV4-EV battery electric-powered sport utility vehicle (SUV) to consumers in California. Beginning in February 2002. The public will be able to buy the non-polluting SUV in limited quantities at participating Toyota dealers. The projected price is $42,000 retail; but in California, rebates of $9,000 and a $3,000 credit from the Internal Revenue Service can bring the price down to a more palatable $30,000,  including home charger. This 100-percent electric vehicle (EV) can transport passengers at speeds up to 78 miles per hour, with a range of 80 to 100 miles per charge. This would give Toyota additional vehicles to address the California Air Resources Board's Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) mandate, which will require 2 percent of a manufacturer's vehicle sales within the state to be ZEV. Toyota also manufactures the "Prius", the first mass- produced hybrid-electric vehicle.
