A second annual public rally for renewable energy was held on October 24th
in Washington DC. The demonstrators want the 'Million Solar Rooftops'
initiative to be implemented with solar air conditioning for poor people,
and tax incentives to encourage renewable energy technologies.
The concern over global warming is a "dominant issue" for the oil and gas
industry, says the head of BP Amoco. The science of climate change may never
be proven, but Sir John Browne says "there is mounting evidence that the
concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is rising and the
temperature of the earth's surface is increasing."
